DaVinci Academy Class Change Policy 
 
At the Beginning of a New School Year: 
During Week OneStudents may request changes by completing a "schedule change form." 
During Week Two: Schedule changes require a $10 fee and a completed "schedule change form." No fee will be required if the change is due to school error, teacher request, or incorrect academic placement.  If the request is approved student will be notified. 
From Week Three Until Midterm: Only changes involving a content equivalent course (i.e. changing from honors to regular 
English) will be allowed. Changes involving different types of courses (i.e. core to elective or elective to elective) will not be allowed, except under special circumstances.
After Midterm: No changes of any type will be permitted.
 
At the Beginning of Term 3:
During Week One: Schedule changes involving NEW classes (those taught only for a semester) may be requested by contacting the counselor. These changes must be completed prior to the end of the first five (5) school days of term 3. 
 
Counselor Calendar

August:

·        Finalize master schedule in SIS for upcoming school year

·        Prepare for student registration, all grades

·        Assist in student registration activities, all grades

·        Enter all student summer coursework into SIS

·        Review of senior records – graduation progress, credit recovery, etc.

·        Double check entered schedules against individual graduation needs

·        Review of transcripts for potential transfer students

·        Prepare and help with Dragon Camp

·        Evaluation of transfer student transcripts and data entry into SIS

·        Attend teacher trainings during workdays

·        Assist with teacher trainings for proper use of Advisory time

·        Attend Senior Team meeting – expectations / tracking / etc.

·        Attend Team Leader meeting – expectations / tracking / etc.

·        Aug 15 = High School Coordination meeting at OWATC

 

September:

·        Schedule changes (first 2 weeks of school)

·        Prepare / distribute Senior Monthly Newsletter

·        Work with CTE Teacher to schedule Counselor-led CTE Intro Lessons

·        College Fair at Ben Lomond High School

·        Assist Senior Team with Fall-In activities as needed

·        Prepare paperwork for Senior SEOP meetings

·        Begin Senior CCRP meetings (30-minutes, with parent & student)

·        Continue data entry of transfer student transcripts into SIS

·        Speak to Seniors during advisory time – college info, Utah Futures

·        Attend SIS trainings as necessary

·        Meet with WSU Early College Coordinator to discuss students

·        USHE Conference

·        NUHOPE Walk

 

October:      

·        Continue Senior CCRP meetings           

·        Prepare / distribute Senior Monthly Newsletter

·        Senior tour of Weber State University – with Senior Team

·        Prepare paperwork for 11th grade SEOP meetings

·        7th grade Group SEP meetings are held during CTE Intro (Lesson 19)

·        Identify students needing additional support for small groups

·        Attend SIS trainings as necessary

·        Red Ribbon Week

·        Print 1st Quarter grades

·        Pull 1st Q grades for all students – address new credit recovery needs

·        Oct 7 or 14 = OWATC Appreciation Breakfast

November

·        Prepare / distribute Senior Monthly Newsletter

·        Attend Fall counselor conference

·        Begin Junior SEOP meetings (30-minutes with parent & student)

·        Update Senior Tracking sheet – credit recovery needs vs. progress

·        Parent College Night at DaVinci (during PTC night)

·        Small groups for students needing additional support

·        Reality Town

December

·        Prepare / distribute Senior Monthly Newsletter

·        Work on 2nd semester master schedule

·        Adjust 2nd semester courses students as needed

·        College and Career Week

·        9th Grade Group CCRP’s in Advisory

·        Parents may schedule individual SEOP meetings (at their request)

·        Dec 5 = High School Coordination meeting @ OWATC

January:

·        Schedule Changes for 2nd semester (first 2 weeks of 3rd Term)

·        Pull 2nd Q grades for all students – address new credit recovery needs

·        Update Senior Tracking sheet – credit recovery needs vs. progress

·        Meet with seniors not making adequate progress towards graduation

·        Prepare / distribute Senior Monthly Newsletter

·        Evaluations of mid-term transfer student transcripts, SIS data entry

·        Distribute AP Testing Information to classes

·        11th Grade Group CCRPs in Advisory

·        Parents may schedule individual SEOP meetings (at their request)

 

February:    

·        Prepare / distribute Senior Monthly Newsletter

·        Schedule and prepare 8th and 10th grade Individual CCRP meetings

·        Track student orders of AP Tests through front office

·        Small groups for students needing additional support

·        Begin individual 8th grade CCRP meetings

 

March:         

·        Prepare /distribute Senior Monthly Newsletter

·        Begin individual 10th grade CCRP meetings

·        Assist in preparation and distribution of Course Request Forms (7-12)

·        Order AP Tests online

·        Meet with Seniors still in credit recovery, assess progress

·        Update Senior Tracking sheet – credit recovery needs vs. progress

·        Assist with ACT for Juniors (state will set testing date)

April:            

·        Administer AP Pre-Registration Session

·        Prepare / distribute Senior Monthly Newsletter

·        Pull 3rd Q grades for all Seniors – address new credit recovery needs

·        Update Senior Tracking sheet – credit recovery needs vs. progress

·        Meet with seniors not making adequate progress towards graduation

·         Junior tour of University of Utah – with Junior Team

May:             

·        Administer AP tests (first 2 weeks of May)

·        May 15 = Packet deadline for Seniors in Credit Recovery

·        Prepare / distribute final Senior Monthly Newsletter (May/June)

·        Ensure we have Course Request Forms for all returning students

·        Begin setting up SIS for next school year (master calendar, etc.)

·        Begin entering student course requests into SIS (future track)

June:

·        Certify seniors for graduation / participation in graduation ceremony

·        Advice seniors who will not be done with credit recovery by date of
            graduation – they need to finish work before August 15th to
            receive their diploma, but may not march in graduation
            ceremony unless all work is completed before graduation date

·        Consult with Team Leaders – which students need summer packets?

·        Work with AP teachers to assemble and distribute summer work

·        Year-end paperwork (update tracking sheets for 9-11th graders)

·        Senior graduation SIS entry

·        File annual Comp Guidance Reports
